A man’s head and shoulders in near-black, the top of the skull dissolving into grain. The body opens into a rectangle: a woman’s profile with her hair in a bun, a low horizon, a small standing figure, a propeller plane and a thin white line rising off the water. A tiny figure falls beside the shoulder.

The second frame goes the other way. Deep blue throughout, with one yellow window. A figure stands in profile, one hand near the mouth, and smoke curls up into the light. Dome lamps hang over it. Karolis Strautniekas keeps the drawing flat and the light harsh.
