Francisco Andriani – impossibility
Francisco Andriani draws impossible objects and renders them as photographs of things that could exist. Two black triangular forms sit against white, built from flat beams and joined so that the joints contradict each other. Each reads as solid until the eye tries to follow one edge all the way around, and then fails.
A fine grain runs across the faces, which gives the geometry weight and a surface to catch light. The texture makes the paradox harder to dismiss. Andriani was born in Argentina in 1989, studies at FADU UBA in Buenos Aires and works at NNSS studio. Francisco Andriani renders the impossible calmly, without spectacle.
