Marly Thalya Gallardo

Marly Thalya Gallardo is an Ecuadorian illustrator in the New York metropolitan area, a Rhode Island School of Design graduate. Her figures are built from flat geometry — no outlines, no gradients, colour doing all the work.

Two images here run the same system. Bathers lie on enormous phone screens, isometric bodies in coral and navy, a pair of sunglasses thrown down beside them. In the other, rows of workers in dark uniforms carry a giant yellow pencil across a red field. The scale is the joke, and it lands.
