New Paintings of Birds Set Against Colorful Glitches by Frank Gonzales
A streaked brown-and-white bird with a long, downcurved bill stands on a green cactus pad, spines and three red fruits around its feet. The ground behind it is flat deep blue, and slim vertical strokes of pink, blue, green and white hang in the field. Frank Gonzales keeps the bird sharp and the background loose.
The second painting changes the weather. A bird with a black cap, a grey body and a long blue tail grips a green cactus arm against turquoise, an orange bar and thin pink and white lines crossing behind it, a pale grey shape under its feet.
