Pedro Covo – Lush Paintings of Solitary Swimmers
Pedro Covo paints swimmers from above. The water fills most of the canvas and the bodies sit inside it.
In one painting a figure cuts a horizontal line through turquoise water, legs and arms broken up by brushstrokes, a white burst of splashed paint at the lower right. In another a swimmer floats on their back in dark green, face turned up, black hair, one leg already dissolving into the surface.
Pedro Covo is a Colombian illustrator and painter. In both canvases the figure loses its edges; the swimming matters less than the dissolving.
