Serafim Mendes’s 3D Alphabet

The Portuguese designer Serafim Mendes made this 3D alphabet as a personal contribution to the 36 Days of Type project, and it is a good example of what that brief brings out of people: a daily constraint that refuses to let a system sit half-finished.

Each letter is modelled and lit as an object rather than drawn as a character, which turns an exercise in typography into an exercise in sculpture.
