Artist JR Makes the Iconic Louvre Pyramid ‘Disappear’ Into the Museum’s Palace Facade

French street artist JR wrapped the glass pyramid outside the Musée du Louvre in photographic prints of the museum itself. Seen from the right vantage point, the pyramid disappears against the palace facade.

The piece is part of an event titled “JR au Louvre.” Photographic prints of the building, adhered to the glass exterior, dissolve the structure into its surroundings. The illusion depends on where you stand.

JR is known for large-scale public flyposting of black and white photographs, most often of people’s faces.
