Claudio Parentela Collages
Two collages, both a face taken apart and reassembled wrong. In the first, a hand lies across a woman’s closed eyes while black wheel shapes are punched across her skin, and the ground repeats the same wheels in outline.
The second keeps the girl’s mouth and chin and loses the rest: patterned paper strips where the hair should be, a floral patch at the temple, leopard spots over the eyes, hot pink scribbles behind. A hand closes on a small blue flower.
Claudio Parentela was born in Catanzaro, Italy, where he lives and works. Illustrator, painter, photographer, mail artist, cartoonist and collagist, he has been part of the international underground scene for years.
