Nanna Prieler

Nanna Prieler draws the way a good poster designer composes: bold shapes, tight colour, and a joke that lands before you have finished reading the image. The Vienna-based illustrator works in a flat, graphic register that owes as much to mid-century advertising as it does to contemporary editorial illustration.

This selection shows the range — figures and interiors rendered with the same economy of line, each picture built from a handful of decisions rather than a hundred. It is illustration that trusts the viewer, and that is rarer than it sounds.
