Menja Stevenson’s Outfits Made From Public Transport Fabric

The German artist Menja Stevenson has had her share of rides on city buses and trains, and like the rest of us she has spent them sitting on top of garishly designed uniform upholstery. So she made clothes out of it, including a Bustour S outfit cut from Stuttgart public bus seating.

The joke is precise. That fabric is engineered to survive decades of spills and abrasion, which makes it the opposite of a clothing material; worn, it turns the passenger into the seat and collapses the person into the furniture. Camouflage for the commute.

More of her work: Menja Stevenson.
