Breath – photography series by Tomohide Ikeya
She is underwater and holding her own head. Knees up, feet together, both hands pressed over her ears, mouth open, eyes shut. The dress is pale and sheer and the water holds it out. Everything behind her is black.
The other frame removes the individual. A mass of pale bodies, limbs and hands and the sole of a foot, packed into dark water with bubbles suspended everywhere. No floor, no surface, no horizon. Tomohide Ikeya lights from above and lets the dark carry the rest.
