Andrea Chronopoulos’s Comic Editorial Illustration
Andrea Chronopoulos draws comics that behave like posters. The Rome-based illustrator fills his scenes edge to edge with incident — a mountain biker grimacing mid-climb, a photographer calmly framing him, a red sun, a flag, a cow floating in a circular inset — and holds the whole thing together with thick, uniform black outlines and highly saturated colour.
Halftone dots and visible grain give the work the texture of a screen print, which is a smart choice: it makes the noise look deliberate rather than accidental. Exaggerated features carry the comedy; the drawing underneath carries everything else.
