Dominik Bubel – Interdisciplinary Graphic Designer

Dominik Bubel is a graphic designer based in Düsseldorf who works across disciplines. His stated ambition is to merge typography, moving image and illustration, and to restrict each to what it needs.

One poster shows how far that goes. The studio name is broken into single serif capitals spread over the sheet at different angles, with thin outlines, arcs and half-circles drawn around them as shapes rather than letters.

A stationery piece goes the other way: a white card in the centre of the frame, carrying one hard geometric monogram, on dark and sand-coloured surfaces with a sprig of eucalyptus laid across the corner.
