15 Japanese Posters by Nakano Design Office
Takeo Nakano runs Nakano Design Office, and this selection runs from 2007 to 2016: fifteen posters covering a decade of Japanese graphic design from a single studio. Seen together, the set makes a good argument for looking at a designer’s work in sequence rather than one piece at a time.
What holds the selection together is restraint — a tight grip on type, a willingness to let one idea per poster carry the whole sheet, and a sense of scale that survives being shrunk to a thumbnail. Poster design treated as a discipline rather than a stunt.
