LEGO’s 1960s Volkswagen Beetle, Built for the Beach

LEGO’s designers went period-correct for their latest Creator Expert kit: a 1,167-piece 1960s Volkswagen Beetle with a pop-up hood and boot, flip-down seats and a removable roof so you can see the steering wheel and the rest of the interior.

The bright blue is the giveaway — this is the beach version — and the kit is aimed squarely at adults who want a nostalgia object with genuine mechanical curiosity in it. LEGO has become very good at selling the build rather than the finished model.
