Fischli and Weiss’s ‘How to Work Better’ Mural in New York
Fifty feet of advice hangs over the intersection of Houston and Mott Streets: Peter Fischli and David Weiss’s How to Work Better, a ten-point list installed with the Public Art Fund alongside the Guggenheim’s retrospective of the pair.
The joke, and the reason it still lands, is the flatness of the instruction. Do one thing at a time. Know the problem. Learn to listen. Printed six storeys tall, a list of platitudes becomes a monument to the impossibility of following it — precisely the register Fischli and Weiss spent a career perfecting.
