David Reca’s ‘I Make Graphic Design’
David Reca’s project opens with a complaint: a lot of clients think design is decoration. His answer is a piece of personal branding built to argue the opposite — that design is a necessity, not an ornament, and that it deserves the social respect afforded to any other profession that improves how people live.
Making that argument on your own behalf is a risky move, and the work survives it because the polemic is carried by the craft rather than by the copy. It is a portfolio that functions as a position statement.
